Hi!!
My name is Abbie Anderson and I am an actor, singer, dancer, educator and writer currently based in NYC!
Growing up thirty minutes (with no traffic ;) outside of New York City, and with parents who love theatre, I am so grateful to have seen Broadway shows since childhood. From the age of three, I have been performing for my family, starting with my own interpretations of The Nutcracker and Beauty and the Beast. From there, I became obsessed with all things musical theatre and comedy, memorizing the entirety of Shrek the Musical and Rent in middle school. From there on, I began to understand that performing is my lifeblood, and my way to exist happily, fulfilled, and creatively inspired in this chaotic world. My personal favorite roles include Aunt Spiker in James and the Giant Peach (Firehouse Center for the Arts), Valerie in Bonnets (Emerson Stage), and Miss Fleming in Heathers (Musical Theatre Society).
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Emerson College in 2024 with my BFA in Theatre and Performance and a minor in Creative Writing, and I have a graduate certificate from the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. From my many experiences in classrooms, studios, rehearsal spaces and on stages, I have been lucky to assemble a toolkit that comprises my current craft. I utilize Michael Chekhov and Stella Adler’s techniques, along with improv comedy, legit dance and character movement, and Kristin Linklater and musical theatre vocal technique. As a performer (and a human!) I prioritize joy, self-expression, empathy, and hard work driven by passion.
Since I was a child, my favorite thing to do has always been to play with creating and embodying quirky, complex, characters from scratch. I love when I’m able to discover characters that have different voices and physical worlds than myself in real life. Because of that, I am obsessed with dialects, character voices, and physical comedy, and am grateful for any opportunity where I am able to showcase that!
Since graduation, I have been gratefully and ecstatically working professionally in Boston, New Hampshire, New York, and all over Italy! This summer, you can catch me in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Playhouse Stage Company as Grandma Georgina/ Ens/ US Mrs. Gloop, Mrs. Teavee.
Besides performing, some things that bring me insurmountable joy are sunsets, spending time with dogs, curating colorful vintage inspired outfits, the TV show ‘New Girl’, and visiting weekend markets with friends. I love cooking homemade (gluten free) Italian food, reading and writing, and watching videos of unlikely animal best friends.
